The
Archimede Project
CHARACTERISTICS Our large UAV
"Archimede" has been a project in upgrading an
aircraft into an unmanned version. The size and flexibility of
this aircraft, characterized by highly qualitative performance,
makes it a highly competitive product. The aircraft is manufactured
with corrosion free carbon fiber sandwich, is extremely strong and
lightweight allowing exceptional take off an flight performances. It
relies on the responsiveness, strength and safety of the aircraft
providing further benefits in the UAV applications and
missions. The STOL (Short Take-Off and Landing)
characteristics, as well as the improved capability of circling at
low altitude and cruise speed, will allow relevant aerial monitoring
operations.
EQUIPMENT Electronic Fuel
Injection system has been added to the ROTAX 914
turbo Engine. This allows for expanded altitude envelope,
improved engine response time, improved fuel mixture control over
entire speed and altitude range, reduced fule consumption, and
achieve zero mainentance with increased reliability. This engine
also permits altitude of 25,000 ft. Fuel consumption is 5% reduction
at 16,000 ft full power, 9% reduction at 50% power at 16,000
ft.
The Geneva Aerospace FlightTEK autopilot
provides a powerful, light-weight embedded flight control computer
with built-in GPS/INS. It supports multiple levels of control,
including fully and semi-autonomous mission executing and autopilot
assisted manual control. It includes multiple input/output
capabilities, giving an interface with the UAV's mission, payload,
communication system, propulsion system and control
effectors.

PAYLOAD "Archimede" is a versatile platform
which will be able to include multiple payloads. Different types of
payloads (RADAR, SAR, sensor for the survey of gaseous pollutants,
etc.) can be positioned according to the configuration required by
the customer.
